Mancano solo tre appuntamenti (Wales Rally, Rally RACC Catalunya e Rally Australia) al termine del World Rally Championship 2018 ed il finale di stagione si preannuncia entusiasmante non solo per la vittoria assoluta ma anche per quella del WRC3, il Campionato FIA riservato alle vetture a due ruote motrici. La classifica generale vede l’equipaggio composto da Enrico Brazzoli e da Luca Beltrame, schierato al via da Winners Rally Team a bordo della Peugeot 208 R2 del Team Vieffecorse, in quinta posizione assoluta ma con un ampio margine di crescita se verranno confermati i valori sportivi in campo.
Enrico Brazzoli, alla sua quarta stagione sulla scena mondiale (la terza nel WRC3 con la vettura gestita da Vieffecorse), viene da tre prestigiosi piazzamenti nelle gare fino ad ora disputate (primo a Montecarlo, quarto in Sardegna e secondo in Germania) e non vede l’ora di tornare ad affrontare gli sterrati gallesi che l’anno visto brillante secondo di categoria nel 2017: come in Germania lo scorso agosto, sarà nuovamente battaglia vera con il finlandese Taisko Lario, che precede il pilota italiano di soli nove punti, per spiccare il volo verso il podio della classifica assoluta.
“Ho tantissima voglia di tornare a guidare sulle magnifiche strade sterrate delle foreste gallesi: per affrontare al meglio la gara, abbiamo programmato una sessione di test lungo le strade della “The Forest Rally School” a Carno, nel Galles del sud. Non vogliamo lasciare nulla di intentato e sono certo che, lavorando con cura nel corso del Monday Test, potremo affrontare la gara con tutti i presupposti per ben figurare” ha dichiarato Enrico Brazzoli in partenza per la Gran Bretagna “Lo scorso anno, per la prima volta su queste strade, sono arrivato secondo tra i piloti iscritti al WRC3 e conto di ripetere la bella prestazione del 2017, provando a conquistare il primo gradino del podio. Lo devo ai tanti tifosi che mi seguono, alle Aziende che mi stanno supportando dall’inizio della stagione, a Winners Rally Team che appoggia da anni le mie campagne nel WRC ed al Team Vieffecorse che mi ha sempre messo a disposizione una vettura perfetta. Abbiamo un pacchetto (auto, pneumatici, organizzazione) perfetto e sappiamo di essere in corsa per il titolo: è nostro dovere provarci e portare a casa un buon risultato”.
Il programma della gara prevede le verifiche tecniche a Deeside nel pomeriggio di mercoledì 3 ottobre e lo shakedown a Clocaenog nella mattinata di giovedì 4, a cui seguirà, in serata, la Prova Spettacolo a Tir Prince. Da venerdì 5 si inizierà a fare sul serio con la disputa delle prime otto Prove Speciali (quattro differenti da ripetere in due occasioni, per 110 km. totali). La gara proseguirà sabato 6 (con ulteriori nove P.S., per ulteriori 150 km.) mentre domenica 7 si disputerà l’ultima tappa, composta da cinque Prove (55 km. in totale), che si concluderà a Llandudno dopo 318 km. di impegni cronometrati.
Only three events are missing (Wales Rally, Rally RACC Catalunya and Rally Australia) before the end of the FIA World Rally Championship 2018 and the season finale promises to be exciting not only for the overall victory but also for the WRC3, the FIA Championship reserved for two-wheel drive cars. The general classification sees Enrico Brazzoli and Luca Beltrame, deployed at the start by Winners Rally Team on board of the Peugeot 208 R2 managed by Team Vieffecorse, in fifth place overall but with a wide margin of growth if the sporting values will be confirmed.
Enrico Brazzoli, in his fourth season on the WRC stage (the third WRC3 with the car managed by Vieffecorse), comes from three prestigious placements in the rallies so far disputed (first in Monaco, fourth in Sardinia and second in Germany) and is looking forward to go back to tackling the Welsh gravel roads that saw his brilliant second place in 2017: as it was in Germany last August, it will be once more a real battle with the Finnish driver Taisko Lario, who is ahead of the Italian driver by nine points only, for taking the flight to the top-three of the overall classification.
"I am really looking forward to driving again along the wonderful gravel roads of the Welsh forests: on Monday 1 October we have planned a test session along the roads of" The Forest Rally School "in Carno, in South Wales because we do not want to leave any stone unturned and I am sure that, working carefully during the Monday Test, we will be able to face the race with all the prerequisites for a good performance" Enrico Brazzoli said while leaving for Great Britain "Last year, for the very first time on these roads, I finished second among the drivers registered in WRC3 and I count on repeating the good performance of 2017, trying to conquer the first step of the podium. I owe this to the rally fans that follow me everywhere, to the Companies that have been supporting me since the beginning of the season, to Winners Rally Team, which has supported my campaigns in the WRC since many years and to Team Vieffecorse, which has always provided me with a perfect car. We have a perfect package (car, tyres, organization) and we know we are competing for the WRC3 title: it is our duty to try and bring home a good result".
The program includes technical scrutineering in Deeside in the afternoon of Wednesday 3 October and the shakedown in Clocaenog in the morning of Thursday 4, followed in the evening by the Super Special Stage in Tir Prince. From Friday 5 the game will start to be serious with the first eight Special Stages (four different to be repeated, for 110 kms. in total). The race will continue on Saturday 6 (with another nine S.S., for a further total of 150 kms.) while on Sunday 7 will take place the last five Stages (55 kms. in total), which will finish in Llandudno after 318 km. of timed Stages.
